  • Rising demand: DroneGun and other systems gain traction with militaries, police, airports, and security agencies.

New Contracts Strengthen US Ties

DroneShield Limited (ASX: DRO) has announced two new contracts with the United States Department of Defense for its handheld counter-drone systems, valued at US$7.9 million at the time of writing. The deals mark a significant step in the company’s expansion, underscoring its growing reputation as a global leader in drone defence technology.

Technology Designed for Modern Security Threats

DroneShield develops systems that disrupt the communication link between drones and their operators. Its technology uses advanced sensors to detect unmanned aerial vehicles and blocks their radio frequencies to prevent them from flying or transmitting images. While the company also offers solutions for buildings and vehicles, its most sought-after product is the DroneGun, a portable device that allows operators to “fire” signals directly at drones.

Global Adoption Surpasses 4,000 Units

The company revealed that more than 4,000 DroneShield devices are now in operation worldwide, a milestone reflecting rising demand from governments and organisations concerned with drone-related security risks. Its clientele ranges from defence forces to police agencies, prisons, airports, and event venues.

A Milestone for Growth

Matt McCrann, DroneShield’s US chief executive, described the achievement as a major marker of progress. “Passing 4,000 devices in service is an important milestone for our team and our customers,” he said, noting that the company remains committed to strengthening global security infrastructure.

With demand for drone countermeasures accelerating amid increasing use of unmanned aerial systems, DroneShield’s latest contracts position it for further growth and expansion into new markets.
