Reece Announces $250 Million Share Buyback to Boost Shareholder Value

Sep 22, 2025

Highlights:

  • Reece Limited (ASX: REH) launches an off-market share buyback targeting $250 million.
  • Eligible shareholders can tender shares between $11 and $13.
  • The buyback is expected to lift per-share earnings and increase the company’s return on equity.

Share Buyback Announcement

Reece Limited (ASX: REH) has unveiled plans for an off-market share buyback, targeting $250 million with flexibility depending on market conditions. At the time of writing, the company has placed an upper limit of $400 million for the program. The plumbing and bathroom supplier said buybacks form a “key lever” in its capital management strategy, allowing it to return excess capital to investors while preserving balance sheet strength. The board believes this is the most efficient way to reward shareholders while retaining the financial flexibility to fund growth initiatives.

How It Works

Eligible shareholders will have three options when participating in the buyback. Investors can tender shares at a minimum of $11 per share, which is 6.6% higher than the last closing price. Alternatively, investors may nominate a price between $11 and $13 in increments of 20 cents. A third option allows selling at the final buyback price, which will be determined within the same range. Reece emphasized that its robust balance sheet and “excess capacity” provide scope to conduct the buyback without straining its financial position.

Market Reaction

At the time of writing, Reece shares were trading at $11.62, reflecting investor optimism following the announcement. While there remains upside potential toward the $13 upper buyback limit, analysts suggest a full operational recovery may still take time. The buyback is expected to enhance per-share metrics such as earnings per share (EPS), dividend per share, and return on equity (ROE), providing longer-term benefits for investors.
