ABx Advances High-Value Mixed Rare Earth Carbonate Production from Deep Leads
ABx Group Limited (ASX: ABX) continues progressing mixed rare earth carbonate (MREC) production from its Deep Leads ionic clay rare earth project in northern Tasmania, with encouraging technical and commercial developments.
Testing by the Australian Nuclear Science and Technology Organisation confirmed that ABx’s maiden MREC product is exempt from radiological control, with uranium and thorium levels sufficiently low to meet international exemption criteria. This outcome enhances the product’s marketability by reducing regulatory complexity and broadening the potential customer base.
The initial 72-gram MREC sample demonstrated a significantly elevated proportion of high-value dysprosium and terbium compared with peer products, resulting in a materially higher basket price. Samples have been distributed to multiple prospective customers for evaluation.
A second MREC batch has been produced from column leach liquor, with assay results expected in March. This product is anticipated to deliver an even higher-grade profile. ABx is concurrently advancing metallurgical optimisation and economic studies to refine project design, supported by ANSTO and engineering partners, as part of its pathway toward commercial development.
