Caprice Resources Confirms Strong Gold Recoveries at Island Gold Project
Caprice Resources Ltd (ASX: CRS) has reported encouraging metallurgical test results from the Vadrians deposit within its Island Gold Project in Western Australia. Initial testing confirmed that the high-grade gold mineralisation is highly amenable to conventional gravity and carbon-in-leach (CIL) processing, achieving overall gold recoveries of up to 94% at a grind size of 75 microns. Importantly, recoveries remained robust at 90–92% even at a coarser 106-micron grind, indicating the potential for an efficient and cost-effective processing route. The testwork also identified a significant free-gold component, with gravity recoveries exceeding 33%, alongside rapid leach kinetics and moderate reagent consumption.
The metallurgical program was conducted on a representative high-grade composite sample from the fresh mineralisation zone of the Vadrians deposit. Results showed more than 92% gold extraction within 24 hours, with no evidence of preg-robbing or preg-borrowing behaviour and no asbestiform mineral fibres detected. These outcomes support the suitability of a conventional gravity and CIL flowsheet commonly used across the Murchison region. Caprice plans to advance further metallurgical studies, including variability and comminution testing on additional composite samples, as it progresses toward a maiden Mineral Resource Estimate and future development assessments at the Island Gold Project.
