Finder Energy Advances KTJ Project with Positive Engineering Outcomes
Finder Energy Holdings Limited (ASX: FDR) has reported encouraging progress from initial engineering studies evaluating the redeployment of the Petrojarl I FPSO for its Kuda Tasi and Jahal oil fields.
The Phase 1 assessment confirms that repositioning the vessel for the project is technically viable, with no major limitations identified in achieving targeted production levels across various operating scenarios. This supports the project’s development case and reinforces confidence in its execution pathway. The studies indicate that only modest upgrades and optimisation work will be required, with the produced water treatment system identified as the key area needing enhancement. Plans are in place to integrate these upgrades into the broader modification program.
Further technical work has also outlined a suitable mooring system concept aligned with the proposed subsea layout, while independent analysis shows the vessel’s structural integrity and fatigue life remain robust under expected operating conditions in Timor-Leste. In addition, existing onboard power generation capacity is sufficient to meet anticipated operational demands, reducing the need for major additional infrastructure. With environmental and regulatory pathways now clearly defined, the project continues to move toward a targeted Final Investment Decision in mid-2026.
