High-Grade Rock Chip Assays from the Invincible Gold Project.
Minerals Exploration Limited (ASX: MEX) has reported significant rock chip assay results from the historic Invincible Gold Mine, with values reaching up to 49.7g/t Au, and visible gold identified in several samples. The Invincible Gold Project, spanning 164.3km², shares geological features with other major gold deposits in New Zealand’s Otago Goldfields, such as OceanaGold’s Macraes Gold Mine. Despite its promising potential, the area has not undergone modern exploration drilling.
The company will begin a comprehensive work program, including stream and soil sampling, in preparation for its first drilling campaign. Historical production at the mine, which ended in the early 1900s, recorded gold grades of approximately 30g/t Au. Previous mapping efforts in 2009 identified a large mineralized shear zone, further enhancing the exploration prospects. Future work will aim to define the full extent of these findings and evaluate the project’s commercial viability.
