Iron Road Confirms High-Value Heavy Minerals at Irria Prospect Ahead of Drilling

Iron Road Ltd (ASX: IRD) has completed a reconnaissance mapping and surface sampling program at the Irria Prospect, confirming strong heavy mineral (HM) potential within the Mesozoic Algebuckina Sandstone. Fieldwork identified widespread HM at surface with Valuable Heavy Mineral (VHM) content ranging from 51.6% to 67.1%, dominated by ilmenite, rutile, leucoxene, and zircon. Sachet logging of 20 pan-concentrate samples further returned 40% to 70% VHM, with rutile and zircon averaging 24% — a positive indicator of high-value mineralisation.

The geological setting matches that of nearby discoveries at PTR Minerals’ and Marmota’s heavy mineral sands projects. With regulatory approval secured, Iron Road will commence a low-impact drilling program on 1 December 2025, testing 53 planned holes across a paleovalley structure. The program follows recent cultural heritage clearances and marks the first drill testing of the prospect’s HM potential.
