New Collaboration: APA Group Teams Up with CS Energy for Brigalow Power Development
APA Group (ASX: APA) has formalized a development partnership with CS Energy to progress plans for the 400MW Brigalow Peaking Power Plant in Queensland. Positioned beside the existing Kogan Creek Power Station, the plant is planned to start operating in 2028, providing essential firming capacity to support periods of peak electricity demand and complement renewable energy. Subject to regulatory approvals and final documentation, APA will take an 80% ownership stake, lead project delivery, and supply gas via a new lateral pipeline connected to the Roma Brisbane Pipeline. CS Energy will operate the facility and retain 20% ownership. GE Vernova will supply the gas turbines, with engineering design to conclude in early 2026. A long-term, 25-year hedge offtake arrangement with CS Energy is expected to support APA’s earnings by providing an inflation-adjusted revenue framework. The investment forms part of APA’s AU$2.1 billion growth pipeline, expanding its gas-powered generation footprint.
