Santos Advances PNG LNG Expansion with Agogo Tie-In Project
Santos Limited (ASX: STO) has approved the final investment decision (FID) for the Agogo Production Facility (APF) Tie-In Project in Papua New Guinea, marking a significant step in strengthening its long-term gas production portfolio. The development includes the installation of a 19-kilometre pipeline that will link the Agogo Production Facility with the current PNG LNG network, while initial gas output is scheduled to commence in the second quarter of 2028.
The development is expected to add around 135 million standard cubic feet of gas per day, with Santos’ net share estimated at approximately 54 million standard cubic feet per day. Santos indicated that the project is anticipated to deliver returns above 50 per cent, with the investment expected to recover its costs within four years following the final investment decision. The company also highlighted that the project will utilise existing PNG LNG processing and export infrastructure, supporting cost efficiency and operational integration. Santos believes the project will strengthen its long-term production profile while supporting future energy supply growth in the region.
