Silver Mines Limited (ASX: SVL) has delivered a positive Definitive Feasibility Study (DFS) for its Bowdens Silver Project, reinforcing its position as one of the world’s largest undeveloped silver projects. The updated study increased ore reserves by 30% to 93.5 million ounces of contained silver, while extending the planned mine life to 26 years through a staged development strategy. Stage 1 is designed to operate for around 16 years, with strong production, low strip ratios and approximately 91% of project revenue expected to come from silver. The DFS also outlines a pre-tax NPV of approximately AU$1.04 billion, a 31.5% internal rate of return and a projected payback period of about three years, highlighting the project’s attractive long-term economics.
The company is now focused on securing development consent from the New South Wales Government before advancing into Front-End Engineering and Design (FEED), biodiversity planning and funding discussions. Updated mineral resources, additional drilling and improved metallurgical modelling have strengthened confidence in the project, while revised mine planning supports future expansion opportunities. Although regulatory approvals and project financing remain key milestones, the enhanced reserve base, robust financial metrics and significant leverage to silver prices position Bowdens as a strategically important Australian critical minerals development with substantial long-term growth potential.
