S&P/ASX 200 Closed Higher; Gold, Tech, Retail Stocks Gain

By the end of the trading session on 05 September 2025, the benchmark index S&P/ASX 200 ended higher by 0.51% and settled at AU$8,871.20. Out of 11, 9 sectors closed higher along with the ASX 200.

The A-REIT and Consumer Discretionary sectors were the top 2 gaining sectors, gained 1.38% and 1.33% in their index values. On the other hand, the Consumer Staples and Energy sectors were the top 2 declining sectors, declined by 0.31% and 0.28% in their index values.

HMC Capital Limited (ASX: HMC) and Polynovo Limited (ASX: PNV) were the top gainers, with 10.294% and 8.156% growth in share prices, respectively. On the other hand, Lynas Rare Earths Limited (ASX: LYC) and Boss Energy Limited (ASX: BOE) were the top losers, with a 3.041% and 2.476% drop in share prices, respectively.
