Highlights

  • First US customer establishes a foothold, with more hospital purchases potentially approaching.
  • Broader FDA clearances expand access, while ablation approval awaits another milestone.
  • Fresh capital supports commercial expansion, but revenue growth must follow.

Quarterly Update Sets Out US Opportunity

Imricor Medical Systems, Inc. (ASX: IMR) announced its second-quarter 2026 results on 10 August 2026, detailing its entry into the US market and progress across its regulatory programme. The update covered the quarter ended 30 June, alongside subsequent commercial developments.

The company develops technology that enables cardiac procedures inside magnetic resonance imaging scanners. Its approach avoids ionising radiation while allowing clinicians to visualise soft tissue and guide instruments during treatment.

First Hospital Customer Establishes Commercial Foothold

After quarter-end, Imricor announced that Rady Children’s Hospital–San Diego would become its first US customer, purchasing NorthStar for a radiation-free cardiac catheterisation programme.

Several additional hospitals were nearing purchasing decisions at the announcement date. Management expected initial NorthStar sales revenue to surpass the European business’s total revenue for 2025, highlighting the potential significance of securing early installations.

Regulatory Progress Supports Broader Adoption

During the quarter, the US Food and Drug Administration broadened the permitted use of NorthStar and the Vision-MR Diagnostic Catheter to include every age group. Separately, Imricor submitted the third module of its premarket approval application for the Vision-MR Ablation Catheter. The final module will follow completion of the VISABL-AFL clinical trial, which was approaching its remaining patient enrolments.

Existing clearances support commercial deployment, while the ablation opportunity remains dependent on further clinical and regulatory progress.

Financial Results Highlight the Scaling Challenge

Quarterly revenue fell 6% to US$60,500, with devices used in clinical trials generating no recognised revenue. Net loss narrowed to approximately US$7.4 million.

Operating cash outflow declined to US$6.1 million, compared to US$7.9 million in the preceding quarter. A completed A$60 million placement strengthened funding, while cash and short-term investments totalled US$67.5 million at 30 June.

Outlook: Hospital Adoption Becomes the Next Test

Imricor’s next phase centres on converting hospital interest into installations and sustained procedure volumes. Funding supports that effort, but commercial execution and completion of outstanding approval requirements will determine how quickly the opportunity translates into revenue.
