KKR Credit Income Fund Maintains Distribution as FY26 Earnings Weaken

KKR Credit Income Fund Maintains Distribution as FY26 Earnings Weaken Source: Kapitales Research

Highlights

  • October’s estimated payout holds steady, while weaker annual earnings warrant closer attention.
  • Investment valuation losses weighed on FY26 results despite income from underlying holdings.
  • FY27 distribution targets remain intact, with capital preservation shaping the outlook.

October Distribution Announced

KKR Credit Income Fund (ASX: KKC) announced an estimated monthly distribution of 1.67 Australian cents per unit on 23 October 2026. The October update maintains the payout level outlined alongside its FY26 results, announced on 28 August 2026.

The distribution relates to the month ending 31 October, with payment scheduled for 24 November 2026. The ex-distribution date is 29 October, followed by the record date on 30 October.

The estimated payment is entirely unfranked and comprises foreign income, with no capital return anticipated. Confirmation of the final amount is expected on 20 November.

Eligible investors may reinvest through the fund’s distribution reinvestment plan. Elections close at 5 pm on 2 November, while unitholders who make no election will receive cash.

August Results Show Lower Profit

The results released on 28 August revealed a substantial decline in reported earnings for the year ended 30 June 2026.

Total investment income decreased 51.71% to AU$33.943 million, compared to AU$70.290 million in FY25. Operating profit fell 59.39% to AU$24.414 million, compared to AU$60.120 million.

Unrealised investment losses of AU$90.5 million weighed heavily on the outcome. Unrealised gains of AU$45.6 million on forward currency contracts provided a partial offset, illustrating how investment valuations and currency hedging influenced reported performance.

Net assets attributable to unitholders declined 4.41% to AU$755.914 million. At year-end, net tangible assets were AU$2.34 per unit.

Diversification Supports Portfolio Strategy

The portfolio covered more than 240 issuers, spreading exposure across a broad borrower base. Approximately 75% of assets were senior investments, while around 75% carried floating interest rates.

European Direct Lending accounted for 44% of investments, placing the allocation within management’s targeted range. These exposures provide context for assessing both income generation and the portfolio’s sensitivity to changing credit conditions.

Outlook Centres on Income Sustainability

Management retained its FY27 distribution target of 1.67 cents monthly, equivalent to approximately 20.0 cents annually per unit, and stated that underlying portfolio income supported the target. For investors, the central issue is whether dependable income can accompany stable capital values.
