AMP Strengthens Core Earnings While Statutory Profit Softens in FY25
AMP Limited (ASX: AMP) delivered a mixed but strategically constructive FY25 result. The group reported underlying net profit after tax of AU$285 million, reflecting a 20.8% increase driven by strong cashflow momentum on the North platform and disciplined cost management. Assets under management rose 9% to AU$161.7 billion, supported by improved inflows and favourable market movements.
However, statutory profit after tax declined to AU$133 million, primarily due to legacy legal settlements and business simplification expenses. These impacts lowered reported earnings for the year, but they are largely one-off in nature rather than recurring operational costs.
Controllable costs fell 6.9% to AU$603 million, highlighting the completion of AMP’s cost-efficiency program. The board announced a 4.0 cents per share dividend for FY25, fully franked.
With a simplified structure, strengthened balance sheet, and focused retirement strategy, AMP appears positioned to benefit from structural growth in superannuation, retirement income solutions, and wealth management across Australia and New Zealand.
