Avecho Advances Phase III Insomnia Program Following Positive Interim Trial Review
Avecho Biotechnology Limited (ASX: AVE) has achieved a significant milestone in the development of its TPM®-enhanced cannabidiol (CBD) insomnia treatment after receiving a positive recommendation from the independent Data Monitoring Board (DMB) overseeing its pivotal Phase III clinical trial. Following a review of unblinded interim data from 244 participants, the DMB unanimously recommended that the study continue to its originally planned enrolment target of 519 participants, confirming that the trial has met the pre-defined criteria required to progress without increasing sample size. The outcome supports the assumptions underpinning the study design and represents a major step forward in reducing clinical development risk. Importantly, no serious adverse events were reported across participants receiving either 75mg CBD, 150mg CBD or placebo, reinforcing the product’s safety profile. Avecho has already identified additional clinical sites to support accelerated recruitment of the remaining participants and intends to advance commercialisation efforts, including regional licensing opportunities and regulatory engagement outside Australia. The positive interim outcome strengthens confidence in the program and supports the pathway toward completion of the pivotal study.
