Taiton Resources Identifies Fertile Gold System at Yogi Despite IOCG Target Miss
Taiton Resources Limited (ASX: T88) has received all assay results from its recently completed 810.4-metre diamond drill hole at the Yogi Prospect within the Highway Project in South Australia. While the drilling did not confirm the targeted Iron Oxide Copper-Gold (IOCG) mineralisation, the programme identified a broad hydrothermal system displaying characteristics associated with potential gold mineralisation. The hole intersected extensive chlorite-carbonate alteration, quartz veining, shearing, pyrite and sericite alteration throughout a thick basaltic sequence. Selective sampling returned anomalous pathfinder elements including arsenic, antimony, bismuth, tellurium and molybdenum, which are commonly linked to fertile precious metal systems. Importantly, the presence of aplite dykes interpreted to be associated with the Hiltaba Suite Granite suggests a nearby felsic intrusion that may have acted as a source of mineralising fluids. Management now intends to shift exploration efforts toward identifying intrusion-related and structurally controlled gold targets across the broader Yogi corridor through geological reinterpretation and reconnaissance soil sampling programs.
