Calix Signs MOU with Global Aluminium Major to Advance ZEAL Technology

Calix Limited (ASX: CXL) has entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) and signed agreements with a major aluminium producer to advance its Zero Emissions Alumina (ZEAL) technology. The collaboration includes a pilot-scale material testing program and pre-Front-End Engineering Design (pre-FEED) study, expected to generate more than AU$1.0 million in revenue. The testing, to be carried out at Calix’s Bacchus Marsh Technology Centre, will demonstrate the feasibility of producing smelter-grade alumina using electric calcination. ZEAL aims to replace fossil fuels with electric heating, potentially reducing emissions and improving product quality while lowering costs. Calix retains full intellectual property rights and the ability to deploy ZEAL as an industry-wide solution. Aluminium production, responsible for ~2% of global CO₂ emissions, is highly energy-intensive. This partnership underscores Calix’s role in decarbonising alumina refining, aligning with its broader commercialisation strategy across large industrial markets.
