DeSoto Identifies 9km Gold Mineralised Zone at Koba Project
DeSoto Resources Limited (ASX: DES) has identified a large gold-bearing corridor at its Koba Project within Guinea’s Siguiri Basin following initial reconnaissance exploration. Field mapping revealed an extensive artisanal mining area stretching roughly 9 kilometres in length and up to 1 kilometre in width, suggesting widespread gold mineralisation across the project area.
Preliminary dump sampling from artisanal workings returned gold grades reaching 15.2 grams per tonne, reinforcing the potential of the zone. The Koba Project lies within a favourable geological corridor located between several major gold deposits, including the Tri-K Mine and the Bankan-Kiniero discoveries.
The company has completed initial soil geochemistry programs to refine future drill targets, with assay results currently pending. Further exploration activities, including additional soil sampling, geophysical surveys, trenching and power auger drilling, are planned ahead of maiden drilling campaigns.
