Metal Powder Works Accelerates Production Expansion Amid Growing Demand
Metal Powder Works Limited (ASX: MPW) is speeding up its manufacturing expansion as commercial opportunities increase across metal powder markets. The company is targeting annual installed capacity of approximately 800 metric tonnes by 1H CY27, significantly earlier than its previous CY28 timeline.
The decision follows successful commercial-scale performance of MPW’s NextGen DirectPowder technology. Its first NextGen machine has demonstrated annualised production capacity of 100 tonnes while maintaining a saleable yield above 95%. Building on this performance, MPW plans to add four machines while securing key equipment for another four units.
Commercial momentum has strengthened after the company secured its first Press-and-Sinter production order from Advantage Metal Powders. The accelerated expansion is expected to cost approximately US$2.0 million, with spending scheduled across H2 CY26 and H1 CY27. MPW intends to fund the investment using existing cash reserves, providing flexibility to increase production as customer demand develops.
