Santos Strengthens Alaska Growth with Quokka-1 Success
Santos Limited (ASX: STO) has enhanced its Alaska portfolio following the successful appraisal of the Quokka-1 well on the North Slope. The well intersected around 143 feet of net oil pay in the Nanushuk formation and delivered solid flow rates of approximately 2,190 barrels per day after stimulation, confirming strong reservoir quality. Its proximity to the earlier Mitquq-1 discovery supports the potential for a scalable, two-drill-site development with output comparable to Pikka Phase 1.
The company has initiated development planning and will conduct a 3D seismic survey during the 2026–2027 winter season to refine field design and optimise resource recovery. Meanwhile, Pikka Phase 1 is approaching initial production, with output expected to scale up meaningfully by mid-2026. Additionally, Santos is progressing the Barossa Gas Project towards full-capacity operations following recent maintenance and commissioning activities.
