Vintage Energy Secures Government Backing to Expand Cooper Basin Gas Production
Vintage Energy Limited (ASX: VEN) has strengthened its plans to increase gas production in South Australia's Cooper Basin after formalising agreements for two government grants worth a combined $5 million. The funding will support the drilling of the Odin-3 and Vali-4 gas production wells, which are expected to enhance output from the company's Southern Flank projects.
The grants are designed to cover up to half of the drilling costs and form part of South Australia's Gas Incentive Grant program, which aims to encourage new energy supply and infrastructure development. The Odin and Vali gas fields already provide gas to major electricity generators and contain substantial reserves that remain available for future contracts. Management stated that the funding significantly advances development plans and supports efforts to improve regional energy security. Receipt of the grant funding is expected before the end of June 2026, allowing preparations for drilling activities to progress.
