Winchester Completes Drilling of JVU-5 Well at Texas Varn Project

Winchester Energy Limited (ASX: WEL) has successfully completed drilling the JVU-5 production well at its Varn Waterflood Project in Taylor County, Texas. The well reached a total depth of 4,877 feet (1,486 metres) on 19 October 2025 and was subsequently logged and cased. Results confirmed oil and gas shows in both the Upper and Lower Fry Sands, consistent with pre-drill expectations and the adjacent JVU-6 well.

Completion operations are now underway to bring JVU-5 into production. The Varn development plan includes ten wells—five producers and five water injectors—with the next, JVU-4 injection well, scheduled for drilling in Q1 2026. CEO Rory McGoldrick praised the team for safely delivering results on time and within budget. Existing infrastructure allows for rapid well connection and early oil production across the 1,145-acre project area.
