Woodside Forms Strategic LNG Partnership with Williams in Louisiana

Woodside energy group ltd. (ASX: WDS) has entered a strategic partnership with Williams for its Louisiana LNG project, marking a major step in Woodside’s U.S. expansion. Under the deal, Williams acquires a 10% stake in Louisiana LNG LLC and an 80% interest plus operatorship of Driftwood Pipeline LLC for US$250 million, with total proceeds to Woodside of US$378 million. Williams will invest about US$1.9 billion in project and pipeline capital and take 10% of LNG offtake (1.6 Mtpa).

The partnership leverages Woodside’s LNG development expertise and Williams’ extensive U.S. gas infrastructure and marketing capabilities through its Sequent platform. This collaboration enhances project execution, gas sourcing, and reliability, supporting first LNG production by 2029. Following the transaction, Woodside’s expected capital expenditure for Louisiana LNG decreases from US$11.8 billion to US$9.9 billion. The alliance reinforces both companies’ roles in meeting rising global energy demand sustainably.
