By the end of the trading session on 14 May 2025, the benchmark index S&P/ASX 200 closed higher by 0.13% and settled at 8,279.60. Out of the 11 sectors, 06 sectors ended higher along with the S&P/ASX 200.

Energy and Information Technology are the top-gaining sector, gaining 1.95% and 0.80% in their index value. On the other hand, Utilities and Consumer Discretionary are the top-losing sector, losing 1.58% and 1.44% in their index value.

Life360 Inc.(ASX: 360) and Neuren Pharmaceuticals Limited (ASX: NEU) are the top-gaining stocks, gaining 9.455% and 6.893% in their stock prices. On the other hand, Insignia Financial Limited (ASX: IFL) and Polynovo Limited (ASX: PNV) are the top-losing stocks, losing 15.750% and 9.581% in their stock prices.

  • DigiCo Infrastructure REIT climbed 4.8% to $3.29 after news of its inclusion in the MSCI Australia Index boosted investor confidence.
  • Insignia Financial Limited (ASX: IFL) saw its shares drop 15.8% to $3.37 after Bain Capital decided to withdraw its acquisition bid, citing "macro uncertainty" and global market volatility.

  • On Wall Street, the major indices closed with modest gains: the Dow Jones Industrial Average added 2.81%, the S&P 500 rose by 3.26%, and the NASDAQ advanced 4.35%. 
  • Meanwhile, the Hang Seng gained 2.09%, and the FTSE 100 remained unchanged.
