ASX/200 Closed Higher by 0.33%, Lifted by Healthcare

By the end of the trading session on 30 June 2025, the benchmark index S&P/ASX 200 closed higher by 0.33% and settled at 8,542.30. Out of the 11 sectors, 09 sectors ended higher along with the S&P/ASX 200.

Healthcare and Consumer Discretionary is the top-gaining sector, gaining 1.89% and 0.91% in their it’s value. On the other hand, Materials and Consumer Staples are the top-losing sector, losing 0.73% and 0.06% in their index value.

NIB Holdings Limited (ASX: NHF) and James Hardie Industries (ASX: JHX) are the top-gaining stocks, gaining 9.119% and 6.996% in their stock prices. On the other hand, Deep Yellow Limited (ASX: DYL) and Liontown Resources Limited (ASX: LTR) are the top-losing stocks, losing 5.085% and 4.167% in their stock prices.

  • NIB jumped 9.4% to $7.08 after UBS upgraded the stock to “buy” with a target of $7.85, indicating over 20% upside potential.
  • Gold dipped slightly after two weeks of losses, pressured by improved risk sentiment as the US pushes to finalise trade agreements ahead of a July 9 deadline.
  • Oil declined, posting its sharpest weekly fall in over two years, as hedge funds increased short positions amid easing tensions between Iran and Israel and expectations of an OPEC+ output rise.
  • On Wall Street, the Dow Jones gained 1.00%, while the S&P 500 and NASDAQ each rose 0.52%.
  • Hong Kong’s Hang Seng Index fell 0.28% today.
