ASX/200 Closer Lower by 0.61%, Dragged down by A-REIT

By the end of the trading session on 09 July 2025, the benchmark index S&P/ASX 200 closed lower by 0.61% and settled at 8,538.60. Out of the 11 sectors, 04 sectors ended higher along with the S&P/ASX 200.

Utilities and Energy is the top-gaining sector, gaining 1.06% and 0.04% in their it’s value. On the other hand, A-REIT and Materials are the top-losing sector, losing 1.54% and 1.31% in their index value.

Liontown Resources Limited (ASX: LTR) and Telix Pharmaceuticals Limited (ASX: TLX) are the top-gaining stocks, gaining 5.633% and 5.615% in their stock prices. On the other hand, Lifestyle Communities Limited (ASX: LIC) and Paladin Energy Limited (ASX: PDN) are the top-losing stocks, losing 37.216% and 8.269% in their stock prices.

  • Domino’s Pizza Enterprises Ltd (ASX: DMP) climbed 2.4% to $18.45 after UBS upgraded its rating to “buy” from “neutral,” following a recent dip triggered by the sudden resignation of CEO Mark van Dyck.
  • Guzman y Gomez Ltd (ASX: GYG) dropped 1.5% to $28.19 after JPMorgan initiated coverage with an “underweight” rating and issued a target price of $24.
  • The Australian dollar and bond yields rose sharply after the Reserve Bank of Australia (RBA) unexpectedly chose to maintain the cash rate at 3.8%.
  • A Texas-based energy company reported that its oil-related earnings declined by approximately $1 billion, with gas earnings falling by $500 million compared to the previous quarter.
  • The Dow Jones Industrial Average slipped 0.37%, while the S&P 500 edged down 0.07%, and the NASDAQ Composite inched up 0.03%.
  • The Hang Seng Index is currently down 1.30%.
