Factors influencing the market-

  • The Australian share market climbed to a two-month high today, led by solid gains in technology stocks after Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing projected stronger-than-expected revenue growth, renewing investor enthusiasm for artificial intelligence.
  • Information Technology Sector led the five sectors trading higher by midday, with NextDC rising 2.5%, Life360 gaining 3.1% and WiseTech Global edging up 1.0%. The local market’s strength followed forecasts from TSMC that revenue would grow by nearly 30% in 2026—above the average analyst expectation—helping to alleviate concerns over artificial intelligence demand.
  • Capstone Copper was one of the standout performers, surging 6.5% after the miner met its 2025 copper production guidance and posted a record annual output of 224,764 tonnes.
  • Crude oil prices fell more than 4% overnight to US$63.60 a barrel after US President Donald Trump refrained from discussing intervention in Iran, following the regime’s pledge not to carry out executions of protesters.
  • The Dow Jones closed up by 0.60%, S&P 500 gained by 0.26% and Nasdaq was up by 0.25% in the previous session.
  • Hang Seng is up by 0.87%, and FTSE 100 is up by 0.54%.
