KGL Resources Limited (ASX: KGL) has entered into a significant agreement with Wheaton Precious Metals, securing a US$300 million Precious Metals Purchase Agreement (PMPA) for the development of its Jervois Copper Project in the Northern Territory, Australia. The agreement includes an upfront payment of US$275 million and a US$25 million contingent cost overrun facility. This financing deal will be crucial for advancing the project towards construction, with the upfront payment being provided in stages, including a US$32 million Early Deposit. The partnership signifies a significant advancement for KGL, as it marks Wheaton's inaugural streaming transaction in Australia.
The PMPA ensures KGL’s copper production remains unencumbered, while the streaming arrangement covers silver and gold by-products. This agreement allows KGL to secure significant capital while mitigating financial risks associated with project commissioning and ramp-up. The company is also finalizing the scope of its construction contract and expects updates to its technical and economic framework by May 2026.
