Highlights:

  • WA1 strengthens its financial position, setting the stage for further development at Luni.
  • An expanded high-confidence niobium resource raises expectations ahead of a crucial feasibility milestone.
  • Encouraging processing results could unlock new opportunities in Australia's critical minerals sector.

WA1 Resources Reports FY26 Results

WA1 Resources Ltd (ASX: WA1) outlined significant progress at its flagship Luni Niobium Project in its FY26 annual report, dated 18 September 2026, covering the financial year ended 30 June 2026. The Western Australian mineral explorer strengthened its balance sheet, advanced technical studies and improved resource confidence as it moved towards a potential development decision.

The company reported a net loss of AU$3.89 million, compared with AU$4.80 million in FY25, reflecting its ongoing exploration and development activities.

Stronger Balance Sheet Supports Development

WA1's financial position improved considerably during FY26, supported by a AU$100 million institutional placement completed during the year. Key financial developments included:

  • Cash reserves: Increased to AU$123.80 million from AU$72.80 million.
  • Total assets: Rose to AU$228.19 million from AU$130.26 million.
  • Net assets: Advanced to AU$218.11 million from AU$125.94 million.
  • Exploration investment: Capitalised expenditure reached AU$34.66 million, compared with AU$29.52 million previously.

The strengthened liquidity provides additional flexibility to fund technical investigations, infrastructure development and regulatory activities.

Luni Resource Expansion Strengthens Project Potential

The company's May 2026 resource update confirmed approximately 220 million tonnes grading 1.0% niobium pentoxide at Luni.

Importantly, the Indicated resource increased to 93 million tonnes grading 1.32%, while a higher-grade portion contained 56 million tonnes grading 2.3%.

Metallurgical testing also demonstrated encouraging processing characteristics, with representative samples achieving a weighted average concentrate grade of 44% and overall recovery of 54%.

These developments provide important technical inputs for future mine planning and processing design.

Outlook: Feasibility Study Becomes Key Catalyst

WA1 is targeting completion of Luni's Pre-Feasibility Study during the fourth quarter of calendar 2026.

The study represents a critical milestone in assessing project economics, infrastructure requirements and potential commercial development pathways.

With Australian Government Major Project Status and substantial financial resources, WA1 is positioned to advance its strategic niobium ambitions. However, permitting requirements, future funding needs and technical execution remain important considerations.

Successful delivery of the feasibility study could strengthen Luni's prospects of becoming a significant Australian source of niobium, supporting greater diversification of global critical mineral supplies.
