American West Plans 2026 Drilling to Expand Indium and Gallium Potential at West Desert.
American West Metals Limited (ASX: AW1) has outlined plans for a major indium and gallium-focused drilling program at its 100% owned West Desert Project in Utah, scheduled to commence in 2026. Recent resampling of historical drill core has confirmed extensive zones of gallium mineralisation, including thick intercepts with grades up to 77.3g/t Ga, supporting the presence of Apex-style carbonate replacement and skarn mineralisation. These geological characteristics mirror those of the nearby world-class Apex gallium-germanium mine.
The upcoming program will prioritise oxidised zones along the Juab Fault that remain largely untested, alongside new indium targets aimed at expanding West Desert’s position as the largest undeveloped indium resource in the United States. Additional copper, gold, and silver targets have also been identified outside the current resource footprint. With permits secured and strong alignment with evolving US critical minerals policy, West Desert is entering a key growth and exploration phase.
