APA Group: Strategic Portfolio Simplification Through Targeted Divestment
APA Group (ASX: APA) is a leading ASX-listed energy infrastructure company with a diversified AU$27 billion portfolio spanning gas, electricity transmission, and renewable generation assets across Australia. As part of its continued focus on portfolio optimisation, APA has signed a binding agreement to sell its 20% ownership interest in GDI (EII) Pty Ltd, which operates the Allgas gas distribution network, to entities associated with Stonepeak. The divestment is included within a wider transaction involving the sale of the entire GDI business and is anticipated to reach completion by the end of the first quarter of 2026, subject to the fulfilment of customary conditions. APA’s share of the sale proceeds is estimated at AU$64 million, with the divested assets contributing less than 1% to FY25 underlying EBITDA. The divestment supports APA’s strategic focus on simplifying operations, reducing costs, and reallocating capital toward higher-growth, customer-focused energy infrastructure opportunities, while continuing to provide transitional corporate services for up to three years
