EBR Advances Toward Nationwide Medicare Coverage for WiSE System
EBR Systems (ASX: EBR) has reached a significant milestone after the U.S. Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) initiated a National Coverage Determination (NCD) process for its WiSE® System, the world’s only wireless cardiac pacing device for heart failure patients.
The development follows EBR’s inclusion in CMS’s Transitional Coverage for Emerging Technologies (TCET) program, making the WiSE System the first technology to enter the pathway. The TCET framework is designed to accelerate Medicare coverage for FDA-designated Breakthrough Devices, potentially shortening the approval timeline compared with the traditional multi-year process. CMS is targeting a final NCD decision by March 2027, which could establish a nationwide Medicare reimbursement framework for eligible patients.
A favorable outcome would broaden patient access, support adoption across healthcare providers, and strengthen EBR’s U.S. commercialization strategy. The company believes the initiative further validates the clinical value of leadless left ventricular endocardial pacing and positions WiSE for wider market penetration.
