HMC Capital Partners with KKR to Drive Energy Transition Platform Expansion

HMC Capital Limited (ASX: HMC) has established a strategic partnership with KKR, under which KKR-managed funds will invest up to AU$ 603 million in HMC's Energy Transition Platform. The partnership will grant KKR preferred equity in the platform, which consists of 652 MW of operational assets, along with a 5.7 GW pipeline of battery energy sthorage systems (BESS) and wind energy projects. This capital injection is expected to accelerate the development of new projects that support Australia’s energy transition and grid reliability. Upon repayment of the preferred equity, KKR will hold a minority equity stake. HMC aims for 20%+ return on equity (ROE) and expects to achieve an MOIC of 4x over the next 5 years. The deal reflects HMC’s focus on scaling high-return platforms and creating value for its shareholders through strategic partnerships with global investors.
