Leadership Transition at The Star Entertainment Group
The Star Entertainment Group Limited (ASX: SGR) has announced a significant leadership change, with Group CEO and Managing Director Steve McCann stepping down effective 16 December 2025. Mr McCann departs after leading the company through a highly challenging period marked by regulatory scrutiny and financial pressure. During his tenure, he oversaw a critical financial reset and advanced the company’s Remediation Plan, helping stabilise operations and establish a platform for long-term recovery.
Bruce Mathieson Jnr, currently Chair, will assume additional responsibilities as Executive Chair while the Board undertakes a search for a permanent CEO. To ensure continuity, Mr McCann will remain available in an advisory capacity, particularly for government and regulatory engagement, until July 2026.
