Black Rock Mining Limited (ASX: BKT) has successfully launched the Early Works program for its Mahenge Graphite Project in Tanzania, following a formal groundbreaking ceremony on 9 October 2025. The event was officiated by the Hon. Anthony Mavunde, the Minister of Minerals, and attended by senior officials, the Korean Ambassador, and representatives from POSCO International (POSCO). This milestone marks the official commencement of the Early Works program, designed to prepare the project for rapid construction once funding is secured and a Final Investment Decision (FID) is made.
The Mahenge Graphite Project, with Black Rock holding an 84% stake, is set to make significant contributions to the Ulanga region by creating over 400 Full Time Equivalent (FTE) jobs for the first module, with this number expected to rise to over 900 FTEs once all four modules are fully operational. A crucial aspect of the project is the development of a 220kv high voltage powerline from Ifakara to Mahenge, which will ensure the project's competitiveness while enabling further regional industrialization.
