PlaySide Studios Delays Game of Thrones Launch to Deliver a Higher-Quality Experience
PlaySide Studios Limited (ASX: PLY) has announced that its highly anticipated real-time strategy title, Game of Thrones: War for Westeros, will now launch on PC in early 2027. Developed under licence from Warner Bros./HBO, the revised timeline is intended to provide additional development time to refine gameplay and ensure the title meets the expectations of both strategy gaming enthusiasts and fans of the globally recognised franchise. The company stated that development is progressing well and plans to share more updates and gameplay reveals over the coming months.
The game will feature four playable factions—House Stark, House Lannister, House Targaryen, and the Night King's Army of the Dead—each with unique heroes, abilities and tactical gameplay. PlaySide is focusing on responsive combat mechanics, dynamic squad-based warfare, and detailed battlefields inspired by iconic Westeros locations, including King's Landing, The Wall and Ashemark. Management believes the extended development period will strengthen the game's overall quality, supporting a more polished launch while reinforcing PlaySide's long-term strategy of delivering premium gaming experiences.
