Viking Mines Ltd (ASX: VKA) has announced the successful acquisition of a comprehensive historical technical dataset for the Linka Project in Nevada, USA, for a nominal cost of US$35,000 (~AU$50,000). This dataset, which would cost over AU$1.0 million to replicate at current market rates, includes records for 68 drillholes (8 Diamond and 60 Percussion) spanning the Linka, Hillside, and Conquest targets.
The acquisition provides a significant technical advantage, potentially saving months of fieldwork and substantial exploration capital. It includes high-quality scans of historical mapping, cross-sections, and data from the late 1970s, identifying high-grade zones and underground workings. This critical information supports immediate planning for validation drilling, with the goal of bringing the historical data up to JORC standards. Viking Mines is in the process of converting this data into a digital format to integrate it into 3D geological modelling software, accelerating the project’s development.
