Western Mines Sets Up Large-Scale Phase 5 Drilling to Target Higher-Grade Nickel at Mulga Tank
Western Mines Group Ltd (ASX: WMG) has outlined plans for an extensive Phase 5 drilling program at its Mulga Tank Ni-Co-Cu-PGE Project in Western Australia’s Eastern Goldfields. The program will comprise approximately 32 holes for around 10,000 metres, combining reverse circulation and diamond drilling across the Mulga Tank Ultramafic Complex and adjacent tenements. Drilling is designed to both extend and infill the existing Mineral Resource, with a particular focus on identifying higher-grade nickel zones and increasing shallow open-pit tonnes. Follow-up drilling will target areas surrounding previously reported high-grade intersections, while additional holes will test new zones up-dip of known basal mineralisation. Seven holes are also planned under co-funded Exploration Incentive Scheme grants to test a mineralised komatiite body on the Panhandle target. Phase 5 drilling is expected to commence shortly after completion of the remaining Phase 4 holes, with results anticipated over the coming months.
