Group gold Ore Reserves increased 33% to 5.24 million ounces, supporting a long-term production growth strategy.
The company also introduced its "Range 500" aspiration, targeting a production profile of 500,000 ounces per annum within five years.
Capricorn Metals Limited (ASX: CMM) shares climbed 13.025% to AU$13.450 on 27 July after the company announced a series of major operational updates that strengthened its long-term growth outlook. The miner unveiled an updated Pre-Feasibility Study (PFS) for its Mount Gibson Gold Project (MGGP), reported a significant increase in group gold reserves, and outlined its long-term "Range 500" growth aspiration. Together, these announcements highlighted Capricorn's ambition to become one of Australia's leading mid-tier gold producers.
Mt Gibson Study Delivers Strong Growth Outlook
The updated PFS confirmed that the Mount Gibson Gold Project could achieve steady-state production of around 260,000 ounces of gold annually by the third year of operation through combined open-pit and underground mining. The project features a projected 19-year mine life, estimated all-in sustaining costs of AU$1,870 per ounce, forecast life-of-mine revenue of AU$19.3 billion, and pre-tax free cash flow of approximately AU$12.0 billion. Capricorn also expects a rapid pre-tax payback period of about 14 months while targeting commencement of site development activities in Q2 FY27, subject to regulatory progress.
Reserve Growth Strengthens Long-Term Pipeline
Alongside the project update, Capricorn announced that group Ore Reserves increased by 33% to 5.24 million ounces, while Mineral Resources rose 29% to 8.66 million ounces across its Karlawinda and Mount Gibson projects. The company believes the expanded reserve base supports a production run rate exceeding 400,000 ounces per annum once Mount Gibson reaches full operation, reinforcing its long-term growth profile.
Range 500 Vision Gains Attention
Capricorn also launched its "Range 500" strategy, an aspirational plan aimed at lifting annual gold production to 500,000 ounces within five years. The company has commenced technical studies into a second processing hub at the Golden Range Project while continuing aggressive exploration at Mount Gibson and Golden Range. Although management noted that the target remains aspirational rather than a production forecast, investors appeared encouraged by the scale of the company's long-term expansion strategy.Note- All data presented is based on information available at the time of writing.Disclaimer for Kapitales ResearchThe materials provided by Kapitales Research, including articles, news, data, reports, opinions, images, charts, and videos ("Content"), are intended for personal, non-commercial use only.
