Archer Materials Achieves Breakthrough in Quantum Spin Detection

Archer Materials Limited (ASX: AXE) has reached a pivotal milestone in its quantum technology development by achieving on-chip electrical detection of magnetic resonance (EDMR) on carbon-based qubit materials. This advancement, in partnership with École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL), offers a scalable, cost-effective alternative to traditional diamond-based optical readout methods. Early tests at cryogenic temperatures validated the on-chip EDMR approach through changes in device current, signalling its potential for integration into practical quantum devices and magnetic sensors. This technology paves the way for highly sensitive magnetic sensing applications in fields such as biomedical devices, navigation, and defence. By integrating EDMR circuits directly onto chips, Archer simplifies quantum hardware and aligns with conventional semiconductor fabrication methods. CEO Dr. Simon Ruffell emphasized that this development is a crucial enabler for future qubit demonstration and scalable quantum technologies. The company continues to refine its device performance, aiming for broader application at higher operational temperatures.
