Environmental Clean Technologies: Expanding into PFAS Remediation

Environmental Clean Technologies Limited (ASX: ECT) has taken a major strategic step by acquiring Terrajoule Pty Ltd, securing exclusive rights to Rice University’s Flash Joule Heating (FJH) technology. This breakthrough, known as Rapid Electrothermal Mineralisation (REM), addresses soil contamination caused by PFAS, often referred to as “forever chemicals,” and heavy metals. Laboratory trials demonstrated more than 96% defluorination efficiency and nearly complete removal of perfluorooctanoic acid (PFOA), transforming pollutants into harmless calcium fluoride without secondary waste. The acquisition complements ECT’s existing COLDry technology and broadens its portfolio in sustainable solutions. The company secured AU$3 million in fresh capital through a well-backed placement to support its development plans. ECT also announced the appointment of Faldi Ismail as Executive Chairman to drive strategic initiatives. By combining advanced remediation technologies with commercial scalability, ECT is positioning itself at the forefront of environmental innovation while expanding its market reach in soil and water treatment.
