Firebird Metals Revolutionizes Manganese Processing with Energy-Efficient Kiln

Firebird Metals Limited (ASX: FRB), a Western Australia-based manganese developer, has successfully tested its innovative, energy-efficient calcining kiln using low-grade manganese ore for Kazakhstan’s Taza Metal Technologies. The pilot-scale trials, conducted by Firebird’s Chinese subsidiary, demonstrated energy savings exceeding 50% compared to conventional kilns—consuming only 230 kWh/t, with potential commercial-scale reductions to less than half the industry norm. The kiln also achieved a high leaching efficiency of 95%, validating its performance for high-purity manganese sulphate (HPMSM) production. Firebird’s technology is scalable and suitable across ore types and other mineral processes, including lithium and iron. The company’s LMFP battery strategy positions it to be a low-cost, high-purity manganese sulphate producer.
