Flagship Minerals Limited (ASX: FLG) has completed a review of historical metallurgical testwork at its 100% owned Pantanillo Gold Project in Chile, which hosts a qualifying foreign estimate of 47.4Mt at 0.69g/t Au for 1.05Moz Au. Encouraging column leach tests demonstrated gold recoveries up to 85.5% for oxide mineralisation, significantly outperforming the typical 50%-70% recovery rates seen in peer projects. These results support Flagship’s strategy to pursue a low-Capex, heap leach development model, with potential for further cost savings through dump leaching.
The company plans to conduct confirmatory heap leach testwork and advance exploration to convert the foreign estimate into a JORC-compliant Mineral Resource. Drawing comparisons to RIO2’s Fenix Gold Project, located 40km away, Flagship sees strong potential for efficient, low-cost production. Future work will include drilling, metallurgical studies, and broader exploration across the 100km² project area to unlock further oxide and sulphide mineralisation potential.
