Freehill Mining Limited (ASX: FHS) has signed a long-term lease on a second site near La Serena/Coquimbo in Chile, marking a significant step in scaling its construction materials operations. This new site, strategically located just 5km from key customer delivery points, will significantly reduce transport costs—estimated at a 40% saving—and allow direct grid connection for energy, lowering fuel and generator costs.
Mobilization is set to begin mid-May, with full operations expected by mid-June. This expansion is driven by growing demand and new purchase orders from major regional infrastructure projects. Freehill will now operate from the new site and its ongoing Yerbas Buenas (YB) plant, focusing on supplying fine sand and preparing for magnetite mining. The dual-site strategy provides robust cash flow to support further exploration, including at the underexplored 730-hectare El Dorado Copper-Gold project. AU$700,000 placement and Entitlement Offer will fund this growth.
