Kinetiko Energy Ltd (ASX: KKO) has commenced drilling its third production test well, 271-KA03PT10, at Brakfontein as part of its five-well test program in South Africa. This well integrates revised drilling protocols derived from optimisation studies by Oilfield Technologies, aiming to enhance gas recovery by addressing past issues of permeability loss caused by fluid invasion. The well is strategically placed near historic high-flow wells and will contribute to a cluster supplying gas to a planned pilot micro-LNG plant expected by 2026.
The production test program will gather critical data on flow performance and reservoir dynamics, essential for future field development. Each well employs modified drilling parameters to improve gas deliverability and reduce flow restrictions. With proximity to vital infrastructure and an estimated 6 TCF contingent resource, Kinetiko’s program positions the company as a key future contributor to South Africa’s energy needs. First gas flow results are anticipated before July 2025.
