Lightning Minerals to Commence Drilling at Mt Turner Gold Project

Lightning Minerals (ASX: L1M) has announced the commencement of site preparations for a Phase 1 drill program at the Mt Turner Gold Project in Queensland, one of the assets involved in its proposed acquisition of Lotus Minerals. The program, backed by a recent AU$2.00 million placement, will include at least 1,000 metres of drilling and is expected to begin within eight weeks. Initial targets focus on identifying gold mineralisation beneath existing open pits along a 6.5km section of the Drummer Hill Fault System.

Previous high-grade results from the area include 12m @ 6.5g/t Au and 16m @ 3.60g/t Au. A parallel soil sampling program will commence along a 9km stretch to identify coherent linear gold anomalies. Managing Director Alex Biggs highlighted the strategic timing, given that gold prices are near all-time highs and strong drill targets are in place.
