Mid-Market: S&P/ASX 200 Trading Lower; Neuren Pharmaceuticals Gained More Than 10%

On 26 June 2025, at AEST 12:30 PM, the benchmark index S&P/ASX 200 is trading lower today, declining 16.40 points or 0.19%, and is currently trading at 8,542.80 levels. Out of 11, 9 sectors are trading lower along with the decline in the S&P/ASX 200.

The Healthcare and Materials sectors are the top 2 gaining sectors, gaining 0.38% and 0.17% in their index values. On the other hand, Information Technology and Utilities sectors are the top 2 declining sectors, declining 2.45% and 0.90% in their index values.

Neuren Pharmaceuticals Limited (ASX: NEU) and Pilbara Minerals Limited (ASX: PLS) are the top-gaining stocks, gaining 10.765% and 9.036% in their stock prices. On the other hand, Xero Limited (ASX: XRO) and Sigma Healthcare Limited (ASX: SIG) are the top-losing stocks and are declining by 5.036% and 3.515% in their stock prices.

Factors influencing the market-

  • Aurizon Holdings Limited’s shares are declining after announcing its underlying EBITDA for FY25 is expected to be $1.58 billion, missing expectations and down from $1.6 billion the year before.
  • DroneShield’s share are also rising today after gaining almost 20% on Wednesday on news that the defence technology company announced a $61.6 million European military deal for handheld detection and counter-drone systems.
  • Humm Group Limited is trading higher, gaining ~5%, after jumping by 11.5% on Wednesday after the company confirmed a takeover offer from the family office of chairman Andrew Abercrombie.
  • Neuren Pharmaceuticals Limited’s shares has jumped almost 10% after announcing that the United States Patent and Trademark Office has allowed its patent application for a treatment of Pitt Hopkins syndrome (PTHS).
  • Oil prices rose slightly today as a bumper draw in U.S. oil inventories helped spur some optimism over strong demand, although gains were limited by signs that the Israel-Iran ceasefire was holding.
  • The Dow has closed down by 0.25%, the S&P 500 closed flat, and the NASDAQ ended higher by 0.31%.
  • Hang Seng is down by 0.89%, and FTSE 100 is down by 0.46%.
