Nufarm 1H25 Result and Seed Technologies Review Summary

May 21, 2025

Nufarm Limited (ASX: NUF) reported a statutory net profit after tax (NPAT) of AU$29.8 million for 1H FY25, down from AU$49.2 million in the prior corresponding period, including one-off deferred tax benefits. Underlying NPAT came in at AU$ 38.5 million, a 24% year-on-year decline, and underlying EBIT fell 15% to AU$ 102.7 million, mainly due to weaker omega-3 performance and increased overheads.

However, the Crop Protection segment delivered strong results, with EBIT rising 34% year-on-year, supported by margin recovery and volume growth across all key regions, particularly in Europe and Indonesia. Seed Technologies' revenue was AU$249 million, with EBIT plunging 71% due to weak omega-3 pricing and lower licensing revenues. Notably, the carinata biofuel crop in South America performed well, and Nufarm initiated R&D agreements with bp and Unilever. A strategic review of Seed Technologies is underway. No interim dividend was declared, and the company reported net debt of AU$1.4 billion.
