Operational Update Start-Up of Latrobe Magnesiums Demonstration Plant

Latrobe Magnesium Limited (ASX: LMG) has confirmed the commencement of operations at its Hazelwood North Demonstration Plant as of 2 September 2025. Following the reissue of the Pilot Project Licence by EPA Victoria on 18 August, the company was cleared to move ahead with Stage 1 commissioning. However, unseasonal heavy rainfall and storms in the region created short-term disruptions, delaying ash supply from mining partners. This temporarily slowed the commissioning schedule, as screened ash could not be delivered for processing.

LMG actively managed these challenges, ensuring readiness for operations once conditions stabilized. With deliveries now rescheduled and materials drying to safe levels for effective screening, the plant is set to transition into operational start-up. The company remains focused on achieving steady-state production of magnesium oxide (MgO) within the next week. This update highlights LMG’s commitment to transparency, while reinforcing its progress toward establishing a sustainable and commercially viable magnesium production pathway.
