Takeover Battle Intensifies for PointsBet Holdings Limited

PointsBet Holdings Limited (ASX: PBH) remains at the centre of a high-stakes takeover battle following MIXI Australia’s Third Supplementary Bidder’s Statement. MIXI, a subsidiary of MIXI Inc, has confirmed it will not accept betr’s all-scrip offer. With MIXI already holding 37.86% of PointsBet shares, betr is now unable to secure the 90% threshold required for compulsory acquisition, limiting its ability to assume full control and realise the proposed AU$44.9 million in annual synergies.

In a counter move, betr has also stated it will not accept MIXI’s offer, preventing MIXI from lifting its bid to AU$1.30 per share. As a result, MIXI’s current offer remains at AU$1.25 cash per share, with the offer period closing on 29 August 2025. This standoff highlights a strategic deadlock between the two bidders, leaving PointsBet shareholders with limited pathways to a decisive outcome in the near term.
